On a sunny April Saturday 9 teams from 1st Finchampstead set out to conquer the 3 Towers Hike. This included 5 teams in the Scout event, one team in the Scout Plus event [a new event for older Scouts over 40 Kilometres] and 3 leader teams taking on the 70K Classic Event.
All turned up looking keen and eager but knowing that a long day lay ahead. And so for the results:
All the Scout teams finished the course and we had two teams in the top 10 which is an excellent result. Well done to everyone who took part.
The Scout Plus team came 2nd with a great time of just over nine hours so well done to Izzy Davis, Matt Popplestone and Chris Kent.
The best result came in the Calssic where Simon Hasler, Gordon Halliday-Vargus and Ian Montadon came first in a fantastic time of 11hours and 22 minutes and Chris Ramsay and Ali Stock were the 3rd, albeit finishing as a 2 man team in 11 hours and 32 minutes.
Yet again it is fantastic to see 1st Finch winning a trophy at 3 Towers and thanks must go to all the leaders who gave up a lot of time to train the Scouts.
Despite many tired legs saying they won’t do it again no doubt we’ll be back next year in force and looking for more trophies in 2011.
