1st Finchampstead are the oldest Group in the District, having opened in October 1919. We are part of Wokingham District and part of the The Scout Association in the UK.

For many years we met in the Old Scout Hut, in Longwater Lane in the southern part of the village, until we built our headquarters – FInchbase – in 1988.

We are a thriving and enthusiastic group, constantly thinking of new ways to challenge and excite the young people in our group. Our timetable of activities is varied and evolving and covers everything from hikes to knots to swimming to climbing to kayaking. Many of our activities and camps take us to different areas, both far and near. In recent years Scout Summer Camps have been as far afield as Switzerland, the Lake District and Wales.

We are fortunate to have a group of dedicated volunteers who run all of our meetings – but we’re always on the look out for new adults to join us.
